Free UK Births Marriages and Deaths Information

Transcribed by volunteers, the birth, marriage and death registrations for the period 1837 to 1983.  The years from 1837 to 1949 are virtually complete, but the years from 1949 to 1983 are still being worked upon.

Essential information for anyone seeking to complete their family tree earlier than 1837 when central registration became compulsory.  Prior to that all records were kept locally in parish records.  This website uses volunteers to transcribe a steadily increasing number of parish records.

Ellis Island Records
All imigrants to the USA passed through Ellis Island, and the site incorporates a free search of all passenger manifests for all registered users.  Registration is free.
