George Thomas Underwood born 1852

George Thomas Underwood was born in Gloucester in 1852.  His parents were George William Underwood born at Atworth, Wiltshire in 1819, and Matilda Underwood (nee Curtis) born at Bath, Somerset, in 1834, who married at Dursley in 1851 after the death of George William Underwood‘s first wife in 1850.

George Thomas Underwood married Mary Bourne  at St Pancras, London in 1877 and they had at least one child, a son, George Cyril Matthew Underwood, born at St Pancras in 1889

George Thomas Underwood appears on the 1861 Census as a nine year old scholar, and on the 1871 Census he is listed as a nineteen year old gardener whilst still living with his parents.  After his marriage in 1877 he is listed on the 1881 with his wife and nephew; on the 1891 census with his wife, son, nephew, and widowed father in law; and on the 1901 and 1911 census with his wife, son, and nephew.

George Thomas Underwood spent most of his life working as a florist in London (as did his brother, John Henry Underwood) and he died at Pancras, Camden, London, in 1925.
